Bröckel was first mentioned in a document in 1215.
The municipality of Bröckel, which belongs to the joint municipality of Flotwedel, lies southeast of the residence town of Celle and south of the Lüneburg Heath. The districts Katzhorn and Weghaus belong to Bröckel. Only about 2 km from the village flows the river Fuhse, which separates Bröckel from the municipality of Uetze. The nature park Südheide Tour takes you by bike to Bröckel.
Well-kept half-timbered houses typical of the Südheide line the streets of the municipality. On the basis of the "Living Village Archive" you can get an idea of the architectural treasures of the village, which are identified by information boards in front of a total of 11 historic buildings.

The St. Marien church in Bröckel belonged to the parish of Wienhausen until the parish became independent in 1215. The oldest part, the choir, was built before 1215 in Romanesque style. The complete nave was completed in the 13th century. The church building belongs to a park-like complex in which the listed sexton's house, the parsonage and the parish barn are also located.

The association FlotART - Kunst und Design im Flotwedel e.V. organizes the FlotART festival. An art festival that shapes the community of Flotwedel. Residents open their doors and give artists the space to present and show their works. The artists come from near and far, present their works in the gardens, garages, barns of the inhabitants and work in front of the spectators, even with the spectators. Numerous workshops invite you to take part. The artists' exhibition rooms are spread over many villages in the Flotwedel municipality. In 2018 they were Bröckel, Wienhausen, Eicklingen, Langlingen as well as Nienhof, Oppershausen, Sandlingen and Wiedenrode.
