The well-preserved and still fully active watermill in Maschen-Horst is
a popular meeting place for families, cyclists, canoeists, and walkers.

Located
directly on the Seeve, the rippling of the water has a calming effect on every
visitor. Here you will also find a section of the Seeve cycle path

The
mill is from the year 1529, maybe older; it is owned by the Schmanns family, which runs the restaurant "Zur Horster Mühle" with great care and attention.

Visitors
from all directions come to the regularly held events with high-class live
music.

From
the modern winter garden, visitors can relax with an excellent view of the old interplay
with water.

The Schmann's
pride and joy is the restored cattle barn, which can accommodate up to 150
people. The Haxenessen (‘‘Witches feast’’) in November is favourite among
connoisseurs.

Canoe
trips that start in
Jesteburg often end at Horster Mill. There is a "beach"
about 100 metres in front of the mill, where you can lift the canoes clear of
the water.
