The municipality of Südheide is richer by a small piece of jewellery.The old staircase in Lutterloh has been restored with great attention to detail and shines in a new light.

Special attention was paid to the restoration of the original condition. For example, the granite base was replaced by the heath type foundation of boulders. Contrary to the original planning, the old thatched roof was not repaired but completely renewed.

But the modern design was also taken into account. The walls were insulated from the inside and plastered with clay, and modern lighting makes the granary and the oaks shine in the dark.

In numerous working hours, the Lutterloh village community designed the outside area under the old oak trees, added a horse-stick and oak tree trunks to the border of the car park, and planted flower bulbs.

Beautifully situated in the nature park Südheide directly at the Heidschnuckenweg, the staircase warehouse invites you to stop and relax.

In a second construction phase, the staircase is to be filled with life. It is planned to set up a nature park information centre with a multimedia exhibition on the subject of "The bird world in the Lüneburg Heath".

Now in early summer the whole splendour of the site unfolds around the staircase. The rhododendrons are in full bloom and make a rest a very special experience.
