The Pastor Bode Weg is dedicated to the famous Heide Pastor Wilhelm Bode
(1860-1927). As Pastor of Egestorf, Wilhelm Bode worked tirelessly to preserve
the heath landscape. The purchase of the Totengrund in 1906 and the founding of
the Verein Naturschutzpark 1909 were on his initiative. He therefore is the
originator for today's nature reserve.
