Kilometres in this stage: approx. 25 km

Look forward to today's stage, which takes you from Hermannsburg through one of the most beautiful heathland areas of Suedheide nature park: the Misselhorn Heath and Tiefental valley.

It is more or less the same route that Ludwig Harms and the parishioners walked in the early 1860s to the mission festivals in Tiefental to hold a service there. It is commemorated by a small plaque featuring the panoramic heath route in Tiefental valley and a memorial stone at the car park in Eicksberg. Enjoy the silence of the landscape and "finding inner peace ".

The pilgrims' hostel "Zur Alten Fuhrmanns-Schänke" is located about halfway to Eschede, so you can complete a shorter stage if you wish. The path then continues over Citronenberg hill and Rebberlah to St. Johanniskirche (St. John's Church) in Eschede, a Baroque hall church with a wooden belfry.

The original church at Eschede, located on the "Theiberg", was initially under the jurisdiction of the archdeaconry of Beedenbostel, which was later incorporated into that of Wienhausen. In 1365, Eschede was first mentioned as a parish in its own right, probably a foundation of Welfish rule. Nothing definitive is known about the early architectural history of the church building. The current "St. Johanniskirche" from the year 1713 is a Baroque hall church with a five-sided choir apse and a baroque chancel altar with marbled grapevine columns. A carved "baptismal angel" with a wreath from the 18th century hovers over the marble baptismal font, donated by the family of the royal "Game Master Bühmann" of Rebberlah. The free-standing wooden belfry with 3 bells is typical of heath churches.
