The Walsrode town of Düshorn is located in the Vogelpark region, just a few kilometres from the Weltvogelpark.
This small town - with old farms at its historic centre - has approximately 2,100 inhabitants. New housing developments have been added in recent years on the outskirts of the village, and many young families have settled with their children, which means that Düshorn now has a day nursery and a primary school.
You will find shopping facilities, a postal agency, a bakery, restaurants and doctors in Düshorn. The village museum presents impressions of the daily life of residents of Lüneburg Heath at the turn of the last century. The biotope directly next to the Düshorn church is a great place for a quiet walk.
Clear water runs through Düshorn lido, where you can enjoy 200 m of fine-sand beach. Off-peak, steam billows from the Finnish log cabin sauna.
The region around Düshorn offers three marked circular hiking trails and is connected to the German cycle path network via the Leine-Heide Distance Cycle Path (N-Netz RFW 4).
The traditional festivals of the region are welcome attractions for visitors. You are cordially invited: come and participate in the harvest celebrations and their processions, for example, and celebrate in a warm and welcoming atmosphere!
Every last Saturday in August the big flea market is held in Düshorn. Famous far and wide, it is lots of fun for younger and older customers - you never know what you might find there.
From Düshorn you don’t have far to drive to Weltvogelpark Walsrode and Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen, both directly adjacent.
